Congratulations on your admission to Eastern Michigan University! This is an exciting time, and we want to make sure you have all the information you need to make your best decision. The information will below will help you as you navigate the enrollment process.
Admitted First Year Student Checklist
Please see the below checklists for your next steps and guide to enrollment at Eastern Michigan University. Make sure to reference the list under the semester you intend to enroll and begin courses.
Summer 2024 (May 2024) or Fall 2024 semester (August 2024)
Activate your my.emich student account and DUO Security
- To activate your my.emich student account, you will need both your NetID and your EID. You can find these on the official admit packet that you received. If you do not have them, reach out to the Office of Admissions at 734.487.6453 or [email protected].
- When you activate your account and set up your password, you will have access to your @emich.edu email account.
- In the interest of keeping your private information private, EMU requires all students to participate in a 2-factor login system called DUO Security. After you activate your account, the first time you log in, you will be prompted to enroll in DUO. Please see the DUO Security page if you have any issues or questions.

- You must activate your my.emich account in order to register for SOAR.
Schedule a campus visit!
- We have many visit options available for students including daily tours offered Monday through Friday and select Saturdays, virtual visits, open houses, and more!

Join Us for Flying Home: VIP Day!
- We have designed the Flying Home: VIP Days with you, our VIP, in mind! These events help you decide whether EMU is the right fit for you.
- Interact with future faculty, classmates, and admissions staff on a more personal level
- Get all of your financial aid questions answered
- Tour your future academic facilities
- Learn about campus life, student housing, and other resources
- If you like what you see, you can register for SOAR (Student Orientation Advising & Registration) to commit to becoming an EMU Eagle!
File the FAFSA using EMU's school code
- File your FAFSA using EMU’s code (002259)
- The FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is now open and must be filed prior to March 15, 2024
- If you have been notified by Financial Aid that you have been selected for verification, submit the requested documentation as soon as possible.
Fill Out the EMU Enrollment Form
The EMU Enrollment Form is the official way to tell us that you intend on enrolling at EMU! The EMU Enrollment Form also verifies your information, registers you for a SOAR session, provides information for your online orientation module, and registers you for EMU Connect. You must activate your my.emich student account before you complete the EMU Enrollment Form.
Attend SOAR
SOAR stands for Student Orientation Advising & Registration and is mandatory for all first-year students attending EMU in the Fall. You will be able to register for SOAR when you fill out your enrollment form. Currently, the following dates are open for SOAR registration:
- May 3, 2024 (Registration Deadline: April 27)
- May 11, 2024 (virtual) (Registration Deadline: May 5)
- May 23, 2024 (Registration Deadline: May 17)
- May 31, 2024 (Registration Deadline: May 25)
- June 15, 2024 (Registration Deadline: June 9)
- June 21, 2024 (Registration Deadline: June 15)
- June 29, 2024 (Registration Deadline: June 23)
Apply for Housing
- The housing application for first year students is now open

Send us your official high school transcripts
- Official final high school transcript can be received from your school after you graduate one of many ways:
Electronically: via sites such as Parchment
Via Email from a school official to [email protected]
By Mail: PO Box 921, Ypsilanti, MI 48197- Remember to send official college transcripts for dual enrollment credit as well as AP or IB test scores
- Note that financial aid cannot be disbursed until we receive this final transcript.
