Apply for Housing: Summer Term
The Summer 2024 housing application opens on Tuesday, April 2 at 10am and will close on Friday, April 19 at 5pm.
Students who are interested in staying on campus for the full summer term (May 3-August 12 at 12pm) or for the Summer I only (May 3 - June 23 at 12 pm) must apply and make their prepayment by the posted deadline.
The Summer II only (June 24 at 12pm - August 12 at 12pm) application will open on May 13 at 10am and will close on Friday, June 7 at 5 pm Students interested in moving to campus for summer II must apply and make their prepayment during this time frame.
To be eligible for summer housing, students must not have a financial hold on their student account and must be registered and maintain a minimum of one credit hour during the summer term. Registration and holds take one business day to update into our database; you will be able to submit your housing application the day after you register for classes.
A $150 non-refundable prepayment is required at the start of the application process.
We do not accept roommate or suite-mates requests for the summer term.
Application Access
- Please log-into our online application portal using your emich user name and password. You will also have to dual-authenticate with DUO in order to enter the application.
- Students cannot access the housing application if they have a hold on their student account. Once holds are removed from a student's account, they take one business day to update in our system.
- Students must use Firefox, Chrome or Safari; Internet Explorer is not compatible with our system.
- Make sure to clear your cache prior to logging into the application. You should do this each time you log in to ensure proper performance.
Important Summer 2024 Housing Information
Available Summer Housing Expand dropdownSummer housing is offered in the Village. A limited number of single and double rooms are available. Assignments are made based on the date of prepayment.
Please be advised that most singles will be in four (4) person suites, and some will be in seven (7) person suites. Doubles will be available in seven (7) person suites, which consist of three double rooms and one single room. Students requesting singles do not have the option to preference suite type.
We do not accept roommate or suite-mates requests for the summer term.
Current Village Residents - Staying for Summer Expand dropdownStudents who currently live in the Village may or may not be assigned to the same space for the summer term. If possible, we will assign students to the same space for summer, but students need to understand that this is not guaranteed and all students should be prepared to move.
Specific Information for Brown/Munson & Cornell Courts Expand dropdownWe are only offering summer housing in the Village, with the exception of students: Students who currently live in FURNISHED units in Cornell are eligible to apply for their current unit for the summer semester provided they have reserved the same unit for the 2024-2025 school year.
Students who are able to reside in Cornell Courts for the summer semester will have to move to a temporary space, sometime during the summer for construction related projects. Information regarding dates and time frame will be communicated directly to the students who will be impacted.
Students who currently reside in UNFURNISHED spaces in Cornell, who apply for summer housing are required to move to the Village on May 3.
Brown/Munson will fully close at the end of the winter 2024 semester. Students who currently live in Brown or Munson who apply for summer housing are required to move to the Village on May 3.
If you currently live in our apartments and need summer housing, but are NOT returning for fall, you must plan on moving to the Village for the summer. This includes students who are graduating in August.
Students who do not currently live in apartments but who have an assignment there for the 2024-2025 school year, must live in the Village for the summer.
$150 Housing Prepayment Expand dropdownAll students, regardless of scholarship/financial aid status, are required to submit a $150 non-refundable prepayment at the start of the housing application. This prepayment cannot be waived or charged to the student account.
The prepayment is non-refundable. Regardless of reasoning, this payment will not be refunded.
Online prepayment via the housing application gives students instant access to proceed. The housing application accepts credit cards and debit cards provided they also function as a credit card. The system will not accept debit only cards or prepaid credit cards.
If you choose to mail your prepayment, you MUST follow the directions listed within the housing application. Mailed prepayments will take significant time to process and will cause a delay in your ability to proceed with the application.
Summer I and Summer II: May 3 – August 12 at 12pm)
Students who currently live off campus can check into their summer housing assignment at 10am on Friday, May 3. Students must check-in and sign for their keys before 5pm on Sunday, May 5.
Students who currently live on campus will transition to their summer housing assignment as early as 10am on Friday, May 3. Students do not need to vacate their winter assignments until this date. Students must completely move out of their winter housing assignment and return keys via an express checkout envelope to the appropriate front desk no later than 5pm on Sunday, May 5
If you are staying on campus for the summer, but moving off campus for the fall semester, you MUST pay attention to our move-out date on August 12. You are responsible for finding alternative housing if your lease start date is after your contract ends. No temporary housing or transition housing is available.
If a student has a reservation for Fall 2024, they will transition to their Fall 2024 housing assignment on August 13 and August 14 between the hours of 10am and 2pm. Students must completely move out of their summer housing assignment and return keys via an express checkout envelope to the appropriate front desk no later than 2pm on August 14.
If a summer housing resident is not signed up for Fall 2024 housing by 5pm on Thursday, August 8, 2024, they are required to fully move out of campus housing by 12pm on August 12. No temporary housing or transition housing is available.
Summer I Only: May 5 - June 23 at 12pm
Students who currently live off campus can check into their summer housing assignment at 10am on Friday, May 3. Students must check-in and sign for their keys before 5pm on Sunday, May 5.
Students who currently live on campus will transition to their summer housing assignment as early as 10am on Friday, May 3. Students do not need to vacate their winter assignments until this date. Students under a Summer I Only contract must vacate no later than 12pm on June 23. No extensions will be given due to Summer II student moving in.

Students who currently live off campus can check into their summer housing assignment as of 12pm on June 24. Students must check in and sign for their keys before 5pm on June 26.
Early move is not available, since Summer I Only student will vacate on June 23.

- Single $2,204- Billed at $1,102 for Summer I and $1,102 for Summer II
- Double $1,302 - Billed at $651 for Summer I and $651 for Summer II
Cornell Courts:
- Single $2,340 - Billed at $1,170 for Summer I and $1,170 for Summer II
- Double $1,302 - Billed at $651 for Summer I and $651 for Summer II
All charges are placed on the student account and are due on the summer bill due date per Student Business Services.
