MLK Celebration Book Discussion

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Planning Committee invites EMU students, faculty, staff, and members of the surrounding community to participate in our three-part book discussion series this fall. The book selected for this year's discussion is "The PACT," written by Dr. Sampson Davis, Dr. George Jenkins and Dr. Rameck Hunt.

This is a story about the power of friendship. The Pact focuses on three young men who grew up in Newark, New Jersey. They promised one another they would become doctors and stick it out together through the long, arduous journey to attaining that dream. The authors are not only friends to this day -- they are all doctors (Essence Magazine, 2022).

The Chief Diversity Office will provide a limited number of free books for students on a first come, first serve basis in the Diversity and Community Involvement Office Student Hub (346 Student Center).  Students can begin picking up the books from 3-4:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25 and Wednesday, Oct. 27. The PACT book is also available for purchase at the EMU Bookstore and on Amazon.
