Halle Library First Floor Renovation

About the Renovation

Eastern Michigan University received a generous gift from the Diane & Bruce Halle Foundation to upgrade and modernize the University’s Bruce T. Halle Library’s first floor. The renovation project will begin April 29th and is planned to be completed in time for the fall semester. The library will remain open during the construction, and while the first floor will be closed, the Library Services Desk will remain open.

The goal of the renovation is to create spaces for the campus community to gather for collaboration and instruction. The revitalization project includes the following:

  • An entrance that reflects the intention of a 21st century library
  • Improved consulting space to allow for research, writing, technology/digital media, communication consultations, and tutoring
  • Creation of exhibit space for students and community to showcase work
  • Creation of flexible spaces to recharge and connect
  • Center for Jewish Studies
  • Center for Social Justice

We can’t wait to welcome all of you into our new space in the fall 2024 semester!
